----------------------------------------------------------------------- 2
Using PC-Guard
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
PC-Guard is very easy to setup and use. There are two modes which PC-Guard
can be in, Run mode and Setup mode.
Note: When PC-Guard asks for a password, value, or a message, if a key is
not pressed within 20 seconds, the input bar will close.
Run mode
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This mode is what actually protects your computer, displays your display
screen, asks for passwords, get messages, and run the screen saver.
You can enter this mode in two ways, from the setup mode or from the DOS
command line.
From the command line, change drive and directory to where you installed
PC-Guard program. If you set the path to look into this directory, you do
not have to change the directory.
There are two command line switches, AUTO and LOCK. Type PCGUARD AUTO or
PCGUARD LOCK and press enter.
AUTO Will cause PC-Guard only to run if the program terminated abnormally
the last time it was running. A system reboot for an example. PC-Guard
will use the same settings before it terminated abnormally.
LOCK Will cause PC-Guard to always enter run mode. PC-Guard will use the
default settings that were saved from the setup mode.
If there are any disk errors while saving violations or messages, PC-Guard
will tell you when you return to the setup mode. The total errors along
with the last error reason for failure will be displayed.
Setup mode
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This mode is were you change settings, view violations and messages,
select or edit display screens, and basically maintain the program.
To run the setup mode, change drive and directory to where you installed
PC-Guard program. If you set the path to look into this directory, you do
not have to change the directory.
Type PCGUARD and press enter.
You will be asked to enter in the password, if incorrect, access will be
denied and the program will exit. This is to protect any settings from
being changed without the correct password.
There are two passwords that can be used, a master and a user.
